Publications and Research
In recognition of the principle that you can’t manage what you do not measure, Utah is now coordinating with other states to take better stock of the nation’s homeless citizens.
In 2003, state officials agreed to create a new data collection tool, a statewide database called the Utah Homeless Management Information System (UHMIS). Providers feed client-level data into the database, including the results of annual counts of the homeless derived from shelter and street surveys taken each January.
Data gleaned from UHMIS, and from other research are used to compile the following reports.
